GivingTuesday 2021 raises an estimated $2.7 billion in the U.S.

An estimated $2.7 billion was raised in the United States during the tenth annual GivingTuesday event, a 9 percent increase from 2020, the GivingTuesday Data Commons reports.

The 2021 U.S. totals for online and offline giving are up from $2.47 billion in 2020 and $1.9 billion in 2019. Based on data from BenevityBlackbaudCharity NavigatorClassyDonorPerfectDonorsChooseFacebookGlobalGivingGlobal ImpactGoFundMeNetwork for GoodPayPal, and other organizations, the Data Commons estimate that thirty-five million adults in the U.S. participated in GivingTuesday 2021, a 6 percent increase over last year. The event’s organizers estimate that volunteering and donations of goods also increased, by 11 percent and 8 percent, respectively.

Supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates FoundationCraig Newmark PhilanthropiesFidelity Charitable, the Ford FoundationFord Motor CompanyLinkedIn for Nonprofits, and the National Philanthropic Trust, GivingTuesday saw campaigns held around the globe, including Brazil, Finland, France, Guam, Italy, Nepal, the Netherlands, the Philippines, and Ukraine.
